Rumor has it that former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has intervened in the Rajasthan political crisis and has made an attempt to reconnect former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The political crisis in the state of Rajasthan continues to stay grim. Even as Ashok Gehlot has sidelines Sachin Pilot, he still needs to secure his government. The Rajasthan government, when it was elected, was termed as the comeback victory of the Congress party. Many expected Pilot to assume the post of Chief Minister but was made the deputy instead. A year later, Sachin Pilot has been sacked by the party from the post.
Rahul Gandhi has reportedly asked his Congress workers to let Pilot know that the door of the part is always open for him to return to his position. During a meeting with the National Students Union of India, Gandhi is believed to have said,
“If anybody wants to leave the party, they will. It opens the door for young leaders like you.”
Party Dismisses Rumors
The spokespersons of the party have dismissed the statement and have said that it is factually incorrect. Gandhi has also reportedly informed Ashok Gehlot government to maintain composure and refrain from making public statements. On Wednesday, Ashok Gehlot said that good English and good bytes and being handsome is not enough to run the government taking a dig at the Sachin Pilot. He also accused Sachin Pilot of being involved in horse-trading with the BJP to which Sachin Pilot hasn’t reacted to yet.
Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala urged Pilot to immediately come out of the security cover of the BJP’s Haryana govt and to stop all conversations with them and asked him to come back to your home in Jaipur.
It is to be seen what Sachin Pilot does going forward. Will he come back to the Rajasthan government? Will he be assigned a national role? Will he join the BJP?
