Karnataka Toursim Minister CT Ravi Tested Positive For COVID-19

Karnataka Tourism, Kannada, and Culture Minster CT Ravi have tested positive for the COVID-19 in the state. This is the first instance where a leader has tested positive for the virus.

CT Ravi’s wife and daughter have tested negative for the virus. The news was announced by the minister himself on twitter where he said,

“Yesterday, I along with my wife Pallavi & my staff members underwent COVID-19 test. Fortunately, my wife Pallavi, and all my staff members are tested negative. Third umpire’s result for me has confirmed that I’m COVID positive.”

The minister went into home quarantine on the 11th of July after he was known to have come in contact with the COVID-19 positive person. Earlier, the minister had undergone two COVID-19 tests which had given two different results. The final report came on Monday which confirmed that the minister had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He also said that he was feeling absolutely fine. He went on to say that he will be cured and back to work among the people soon.

BC Patil Into Self Quarantine

Post this, another minister BC Patil also went into self-quarantine after one of his relatives tested positive for the novel coronavirus. So far Karnataka has confirmed over 36,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus as per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There are currently 22,000 active cases in the state. The state has recorded 15,000 recoveries in the state. The death toll in the state has reached 686. The state has conducted 8,39,074 tests as of 12th July 2020.

The worst affected region continues to be the capital city of Bengaluru with 14,066 cases. The second worst affected region has been Dakshina Kannada with 1419 cases followed by Dharwad with 672. The recovery rate is 39 percent which is lesser than the national average. The mortality rate is 1.77 percent.

Bengaluru is going into the lockdown from Wednesday for a period of 8 days.
