Attacking former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, the Member of Parliament From Bhopal, Pragya Thakur has said that one cannot be a patriot if born to a foreigner.
The controversial BJP MP has once again stirred controversy with her statements as she launched another scathing attack on the Congress party without naming their leaders. In what looks like an attack on Congress President Sonia Gandhi and leader Rahul Gandhi, Pragya Thakur questioned their patriotism. She said,
“Chanakya had said only a son of the soil can protect the country. A person born to a foreign woman cannot be a patriot. If you have citizenship of two countries, how can you have any patriotic feelings?”
The MP continued to attack the Congress Party and called it to be devoid of any morals, ethics, and even patriotism. This attack comes after the Congress party raised questions over the government’s handling of the Indo-China dispute which it claims to be a surrender. Pragya Thakur said,
“Congress should look within. They don’t know how to speak. The party is devoid of ethics, morale, and patriotism.”
A Disgrace To MP Post, Congress Responds
For a long time now, the Bharatiya Janata Party has attacked Sonia Gandhi of having foreign origins. While this was mostly seen in election rallies, it has continued with the latest attack coming in from Pragya Thakur. The Congress Spokesperson in Madhya Pradesh, JP Dhanopia responded to her comments and said,
“Pragya has brought disgrace to the post of MP. She was involved in a case of terrorism. Now she seems to have lost her mental cool. BJP should get her treated.”
The statement came in the wake of China’s military aggression along the Line of Actual Control in the Eastern Ladakh region of India. Even as India is looking to disengage the situation, the Chinese forces have repeatedly provoked the Indian side. The violent face-off that took place of June 15th resulted in 20 casualties in the Indian forces.
The Congress party has repeatedly questioned the actions of the government against the Line of Actual Control while the government has labeled the questions as anti-national. On Friday, Rahul Gandhi posted a video where he asked the Prime Minister to speak the truth about China taking hold of Indian territory.
