Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has advised the government to impose the lockdown for another 20 days and went onto say that Bengaluru will soon become Brazil.
The cases in Bengaluru have bee continuously on the higher side. There have been over 130 percent increase in the last 20 days. For the last four days, Bengaluru has been consistently reporting over 100 cases every day. The JDS leader linked the rise in cases to the Unlock 1.0 move by the government. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to express his concern over the present situation in the state and especially in Bengaluru. He wrote,
“Stop playing with human lives. It will not serve any purpose to seal a few areas. If you care for the human lives in Bengaluru, shut down the city totally for 20 days. Else, Bengaluru will become another brazil. People’s lives are more important than the economy.”
In another post, he wrote,
“Today, India is among the countries with the highest number of COVID-19 cases and the problem must be seen in conjunction with our high density of population compared to other countries. A rapid rise is observed in the days following the lifting of the lockdown. The question is, do we passively wait as the country is all set to overtake Brazil?”
As of 24th June, India has recorded 4,56,248 confirmed cases out of which 1,83,111 are active. Over 2.5 lakh patients have recovered successfully from the disease and 14,000 people have lost their lives. Among the countries with most cases, India stands at 4th position behind the United States, Brazil, and Russia. Russia is at 6 lakh cases. However, Russia has a better mortality rate as only 8,000 people have died so far.
