Sonam Kapoor, in her father’s day message today, sort of defended nepotism in the industry. Her remarks come in the wake of the backlash she has received for her comments after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Sonam Kapoor draws the ire of netizens
After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, several users felt that nepotism could have been one of the reasons which drove Sushant to depression. Following the allegations, Sonam Kapoor took to her social media and said that it was unjust to accuse Sushant’s colleagues and friends of his suicide.
Today, the actress defends nepotism
On the occasion of father’s day on Sunday, Sonam Kapoor posted a message for her father Anil Kapoor. Here is what the actress said regarding nepotism: “That’s not an insult, my father has worked very hard to give me all of this. And it is my karma where I’m born and to whom I’m born. I’m proud.”
Today on Father’s Day id like to say one more thing, yes I’m my fathers daughter and yes I am here because of him and yes I’m privileged. That’s not an insult, my father has worked very hard to give me all of this. And it is my karma where I’m born and to whom I’m born. I’m proud

The message almost looks like the actress is defending nepotism. By saying that her father had worked hard to give all of this to her, Sonam has indirectly defended nepotism in the industry.
Well, with the discussions still hot around the topic of nepotism and considering all of it is happening around the sensitive topic of a young actor’s death, Sonam’s comments were totally uncalled for. However, in the recent days, the actress also alleged that the reason she was taking her stance was mainly because of the comments being directed towards her on social media. Nevertheless, irrespective of the comments, it was a Father’s Day message, and Sonam could have easily handled it better.
