The news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise has left his fans and Bollywood in a state of shock. A terrific actor, Sushant enjoyed a successful career, and the exact reason why he took the drastic decision is yet to come to light.
However, it is being speculated that Sushant’s professional life had a significant impact on him. While reports suggest that he lost seven movies in the last six months, a few media sites have stated that many of his projects were forcibly taken away from him.
While the discussion about nepotism is on, let us now take a look at nine Bollywood films for which Sushant was approached but not finalized:
Aashiqui 2
Sushant Singh Rajput had auditioned for this movie, and everything was going smooth. However, things did not work out, and he was eventually replaced by Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Ram Leela
Sanjay Leela Bhansali had initially thought of casting Sushant in this movie. However, due to his close association with YRF, Sushant could not sign on the dotted line.
Bajirao Mastani
Here again, Sushant was the first choice but since Sushant was working on ‘Paani’, he could not sign this movie. The film later went to Ranveer Singh.
Fitoor
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the man behind Sushant’s first film, Fitoor was initially offered to Sushant. He had to leave it because of a busy schedule, and it is then that Aditya stepped in.
Befikre
It was highly speculated that Sushant Singh Rajput would feature in this Aditya Chopra directorial. However, the movie finally went to Ranveer Singh.
Half Girlfriend
An adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name, Sushant had to step out of the movie due to a date-clash. The role was then given to Arjun Kapoor.
Romeo Akbar Walter
The director of ‘RAW’ had revealed that Sushant had even given dates for the movie, but since they were clashing, the role fell into the lap of John Abraham.
Sadak 2 (Unreleased)
A movie by the Bhatt camp, Mukesh Bhatt had revealed that Sushant was the first choice, although Aditya Roy Kapoor later got picked for the role.
Saare Jahan Se Achha (Unreleased)
A biopic of Rakesh Sharma, the makers of ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’ had initially approached multiple actors to play the lead role, including that of Sushant. While Vicky Kaushal was chosen for the role, even he has dropped out of it now. Reports say that Salman Khan would now step into this character.
