The Karnataka Government, on Friday, announced that people returning from 6 states will have to undergo seven days of institutional quarantine and seven days of home quarantine if they are asymptomatic and their test results come out negative. The six states are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Rest of the returnees will be asked to home-quarantine themselves for 14 days.
Lockdown 4.0 effect
After the government eased certain relaxations with regards to movement for the ongoing phase of the lockdown, people who had been stuck away from their homes for the last 50 odd days have been coming back to the state since the last few days.
The Karnataka Government had initially announced that every returnee from a different state had to compulsorily opt for institutional quarantine of 14 days at their own expense. However, this rule met with the severe criticism and in the latest notification, the government has provided an update on the rule.
Returnees from 6 states have to undergo institutional quarantine
In the notification, Karnataka Government has earmarked six highly-affected states, from where, returnees will have to undergo seven days of institutional quarantine and seven days of home quarantine if they are asymptomatic and their results come out negative. Travelers from rest of the states will have to undergo a 14-day period of home quarantine.
This rule will stand good for any means of commute which is used to enter the state. Incidentally, the domestic flight service would resume its operations on May 25th.
