In a major archaeological development, pillars, shiva ling carved on stones have been found during the ground leveling work in Ram Janmabhoomi, Ayodhya. The Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust announced in a statement today.
Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the trust said,
“We discovered pillars in the debris of the structure and carvings on the sandstone. We also found a Shivling there and a similar one in Kubeer Teela.”
After acquiring permission from the concerned district authorities, the ground leveling work has been going on in the Ram Janmabhoomi land from the past 10 days. The Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) also said that the construction of the first phase of the Ram Mandir began on the 11th of May. Ever since then, the VHP says, many objects have been discovered during excavation. Among the objects found are flowers made of stone, Kalash, Aamalak, Dorjamb, etc. Along with it were the 5 feet shivling, 7 feet long black touchstone, 6 pillars of red sandstone, and broken idols of gods and goddesses.
The Yogi Adityanath government gave a go-ahead for the construction activity to resume during the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Post the permission, CRPF camps were set up around the site, metal barricades were erected around the makeshift temple, and the activity of leveling the ground began.
Temple Existed Before: Former ASI Director
The former regional director of the archaeological survey of India, KK Mohammed, had said in 2018 that there existed a temple on the disputed land. During their extensive survey at the site, they found brick foundations and pillars that could have supported the pre-existed temple. In an article in DNA, Mohammed had further elaborated on his stand as he said there were temple-pillars embedded on the walls of the Babri Masjid. These pillars were made of Black Basalt.
The Supreme Court bench headed by former Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi provided its long-awaited judgment on the disputed land of Ayodhya by ordering the land to be given to the trust. The trust will be formed by the Government of India and will be in charge of the construction of the Ram Mandir. The court also ordered another 5-acre land to be given to the Sunni Waqf board to build a Masjid.
