A video is doing rounds on social media of dead bodies being wrapped in plastic bags in Mumbai’s BMC-run Sion Hospital. Ever since the video has been out, there has been a massive outrage on the internet. Also, adding fuel to fire, Dr. Pramod Ingale, Dean of Sion Hospital, confirmed that the video belonged to the Sion Hospital.
Rules regarding dead bodies
According to a recent order by Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta, bodies of COVID-19 patients must be shifted out of the wards within 30 minutes, and must be disposed of within 12 hours. However, in the video, it can is seen that a few patients are lying next to the plastic bags containing dead bodies.
BJP MP Nitish Rane had tweeted the video
BJP MP Nitish Rane was one of the first people to have shared the video. He took to his Twitter account and slammed the concerned authorities. He said:
In Sion hospital..patients r sleeping next to dead bodies!!!
This is the extreme..what kind of administration is this!

After the video was released, the Dean of the Hospital accepted that the video belonged to teh Sion Hospital. He said that the hospital had no other option as the relatives of the deceased failed to claim the bodies. He added that the Hospital was contacting the relatives to hand over the bodies, Nitish Rane quoted this comment in one of his other tweets.
So the dean of Sion hospital accepts the video n says the relatives don’t come 2 claim the bodies so v hv kept them there..

BMC responds to the issue
Later on, BMC Addionital Municipal Commissioner Mr. Suresh Kakani commented on the topic. He said: “We are inquiring into the matter and also finding out when the video was shot.”
