Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akthar has said that, if India can prepare 10000 ventilators for Pakistan, his country would always remember the gesture. Earlier, he had also proposed an India-Pakistan series to raise funds to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The entire world is under the influence of Coronavirus
With over 15 Lakh people affected and 90000 dead, Coronavirus is causing havoc in almost every country across the world. While cases in India is around 5000, in the neighboring country of Pakistan, the positive cases are said to be somewhere around 4000.
Shoaib Akthar puts in a special request
Akthar, who has himself been part of many awareness campaigns in his country has said that Pakistan would remember India’s gesture if the nation sent 10000 ventilators to its neighbor. He said:
“If India can make 10,000 ventilators for us, Pakistan will remember this gesture forever. But we can only propose the matches. The rest is up to the authorities.”
However, this is highly unlikely, considering India itself had placed an order for 49K ventilators recently for domestic requirements.
Akthar had also proposed an Indo-Pak series to raise funds
A few days ago, the fast-bowler had also proposed an Indo-Pak series in Dubai to raise funds to fight the pandemic. He said:
“You are bound to get massive viewership for the games. For the first time, both countries will play for each other. And whatever funds are generated through this can be donated equally to the government of India and Pakistan to fight this pandemic.”
Although this is a decent idea, it is just not feasible at the moment.
