Amid Madhya Pradesh government breakdown, the Chief Minister met state Governor Lalji Tandon in Raj Bhavan to discuss the political crisis. Kamal Nath informed the governor about how Bharathiya Janatha Party was horse-trading its MLAs and requested the Governor to ensure ‘release of MLAs held in captivity in Bengaluru’.
Suspending the sessionĀ
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, whose Congress-led government was decreased to lower numbers after the resignation of 22 MLAs loyal to former party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Friday met the state Governor to discuss the buzz in political circles.
Amid Coronovirus fear, Kamal Nath urged the governor to suspend the session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly, scheduled to begin on March 16.
Therefore, if the session is postponed, the circumstances will also give time to Kamal Nath to bring back the rebel MLAs whose absence has reduced his government to a weak majority.
During his meeting with Governor Lalji Tandon, the Congress leader said that the trust vote was only possible if the 22 MLAs held captive in Bengaluru by the saffron party are set free.

āFloor test will happen after the Governor’s address and Budget, but it is only possible when 22 MLAs are freed from captivity. If 22 MLAs are taken away, then a floor test is supposed to be done? That is not fair. First parade the MLAs before the media, let us see then,ā he said.
Coronavirus in politicsĀ
Responding to a question on the coronavirus disease and how his government is dealing with it, Kamal Nath said: “Abhi toh yahan coronavirus rajneeti mein hai (For now, coronavirus has infected politics here).”
Later he added, “We are taking the matter seriously. The situation is changing by the week,” says Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on being asked about the measure taken by the state government over coronavirus outbreak.
