BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that the current Congress president Sonia Gandhi and his son Rahul Gandhi will lose their citizenship soon. The former Union minister also alleged that the Wayand MP was planning to take UK citizenship to his business in England.
No citizenship for Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi?
Addressing an event organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Swamy stated that the file was on the Home Minister Amit Shah’s table and he could decide at any time.
The BJP MP further alleged former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for applying for British citizenship to do business in England. Swami said that people taking the citizenship of another country while being an Indian citizen will automatically lose their Indian citizenship.
Giving an option to the former Congress chief, the 80-year-old said that Rahul Gandhi, however, can apply for Indian citizenship as his father (Rahul Gandhi) was an Indian. But, the Congress leader cannot apply using his mother, Sonia Gandhi’s credentials who he believes was not an Indian national.
CAA row
Addressing on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Swamy stated that the CAA was not followed properly and the people who are questioning it had not read the Act correctly.
“Our Indian Muslims are no way touched by this Act. Also, it was stupid to ask Indian citizenship for Muslims coming from Pakistan and Bangladesh,” he said.
Swamy also said that minorities who are living in Pakistan and Bangladesh have nowhere to go to escape religious abuse and India is their only choice. If they are being given citizenship why should anyone have a problem, he asked.
