The newly-elected Aam Admi Party MLA Naresh Yadav and his supporters while returning from a visit to a temple in his constituency, were attacked by several gun fires. The surprise attack killed a person on the spot. The police have arrested the convict who was responsible for the killing.
Attack on AAP MLA
The man killed was identified as Ashok Mann, he was an AAP volunteer. The incident occurred hours after the party cleaned the Delhi elections, winning 62 of the Capital’s 70 seats.
Naresh Yadav was elected from Mehrauli and Ashok Mann was accompanying him, who was returning after visiting a temple hours after his win in the Delhi Assembly election. In photographs shared on twitter before the firing, the volunteer, Ashok Mann, was standing behind the AAP leader and flashing a victory sign as he smiled at the cameras.

As per the reports, an unidentified man opened fire at MLA Naresh Yadav’s convoy in Southwest Delhi’s Kishangarh village on Tuesday night. Ashok Mann reportedly passed away due to bullet wounds, meanwhile, another AAP member got injured.
“The incident is really unfortunate. I do not know the reason behind the attack but it happened all of a sudden. About 4 rounds were fired. The vehicle I was in was attacked. I am sure if the police inquiries properly, they will be able to identify the assailant,” Naresh Yadav said.
After the incident, the Delhi Police detained a 38-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with the shooting.
“The accused and the dead had an old personal dispute,” said a police report.
“The accused’s nephew had received bullet injuries in 2019 after he was shot at. The accused suspected the deceased Ashok Mann to be behind the 2019 incident. He had also threatened the deceased 15 days back,” the police said.
