A recent Instagram sensation, Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons has earned praises from netizens over a response he made to an Instagram comment calling him “chhotu”.
1 million followers on Instagram
After his debut in October last year, Ratan Tata in February reached the 1 million followers mark on Instagram. As he reached the milestone, the 82-year-old celebrated the good news by posting a picture of himself with a thank you note.
“I’ve just seen that the number of people on this page has reached a milestone. This wonderful online family is not what I expected when I joined Instagram and I have you to thank for it. I do believe that the quality of connections you make in this age of the internet is far greater than any number. Being a part of your community and learning from you is truly exciting and makes me very happy and I hope our journey together continues,” he wrote on Instagram post followed by his picture.
The chottu comment
While many of his followers rejoiced his news, one Instagram user referred to the businessman as “Chhotu” in a congratulatory comment. The comment was criticized by the netizens for disrespectfully referring him.
“Congratulations chhotu,” the Instagram user wrote.
In the meantime, she defended her use of the word “chhotu”, writing “he is an idol for everyone” and “from the love I can say anything.”
After seeing all the things happening, Mr. Tata, himself had to step in and calm his followers. He responded to the comment and asked people not to disrespect the tweet that referred her as chhotu.
“There is a child in each of us. Please treat this young lady with respect,” he wrote, adding a smiley face at the end.
His comment received appreciation, garnering more than 4000 likes.
