Tamil Nadu: In a bizarre turn of events, a man from Tamil Nadu called up the police citing a possible bomb blast at Erode railway station. The police control room in Chennai received two phone calls about a possible bomb blast by a man who identified himself as ‘Ibrahim’.
Turns out the whole ordeal was a hoax by a man named Santhosh Kumar to get himself arrested so he could eat the ‘jail ki roti’ and get a safe shelter at the local police station. This is how it all went down.
The first call was about the bomb exploding at the railway station and the second was about it exploding at a bus stand. The police immediately dispatched patrol teams and the bomb squad was sent to the scene to do an extensive search. Another team was looking into tracing the phone number from which the call was made.
The number was traced to one Sivakumar who said he had given his phone to his brother-in-law Linguraj. When the police questioned Linguraj he stated that his phone was stolen 2 days ago and has not seen it since.
The police then tracked down Santhosh Kumar who was seen sleeping at the railway station. He was rounded up by the police early morning on Monday and questioned. After checking his phone, it was found that he had made multiple calls to the police control room.
It was later found that Santhosh had two wives and was separated from both of them. He was also unemployed and had no money to afford food or shelter. The best next thing that Santhosh could think of was, yes, get arrested. It is a mad world, indeed.
