No Need For Party Meeting To Select New CM

The BJP party did not take any meeting to select the new chief minister. Yeddyurappa said, “Since I’m already the leader of the opposition there is no need for a legislature party meeting to nominate me as its chief.”

Prior to that, a few senior BJP leaders from the state led by Jagdish Shettar, the former CM of Karnataka met BJP party chief Amit Shah and working president Jagat Prakash Nanda and intimated him about these new developments in the southern state.

Karnataka is the only state in the South where BJP has held power in the past and is also the single largest party now with 105 MLAs. After the HD Kumaraswamy Congress and Janata Dal secular government lost trust vote in the assembly following rebel from 15 MLAs there have been rumors about the chances of President’s rule in the state.

BJP Treading Carefully To Form Stable Govt.

After the coalition government was dismissed, BJP was worried about the way Kumaraswamy was handling certain things. Spokesperson of BJP, G Madhusudhan said, “H D Kumaraswamy as a caretaker chief minister is taking major policy decisions. The government has issued many orders even after failing the trust motion on the floor of the assembly. It is unethical. The Centre should intervene and impose the President’s rule as the party is waiting to form the government.”

He had also said, “As the decisions of the speaker and the top court will take time, the governor may recommend President’s rule and keep the assembly in suspended animation till were in a position to stake a claim and form a stable government with our own majority.”

All through these days of drama, BJP trod very carefully to ensure that when it forms a government it will be stable.
