Bhardwaj Lake Asola

Delhi comes across as a congested city, basically a concrete jungle with ample architectural heritage and a drying river. However, there are places just out of Delhi that transcend the usual and allow Delhiites to enjoy a little solitude. The Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary has a hidden gem in the name of Bhardwaj Lake. It is extremely beautiful and much in contrast to the many places around it. Surrounded by rocky hills, the lake is the very definition of serenity. It is preserved by the Delhi Wildlife Department. You can reach there by taking the metro to Badarpur station from where it’s a short walk away.

Tughlaqabad Fort

Although known well among the masses, the Tughlaqabad Fort remains rather unattended. The fort was constructed back in 1321 by Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq. It lies in ruins but the enormous bastions up to 30 meters in height still stand tall. The fort perimeter is 6 kilometers long which was constructed to protect the city from the Mongolians who used to attack quite often.
