Yuvraj, Harbhajan Bounce Back On Afridi After His Comments On Kashmir And PM Modi

On Sunday, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh joined the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir as they came down heavily on their “friend” and ex-Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi for his comments on the Prime Minister of India.

In a video, Afridi was seen criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending the army into Kashmir and called the PM as a bigger disease than coronavirus. His exact words were,

“I am in your beautiful village, I am very delighted. I was planning to visit you all for a long time. The world is currently infected by such a big disease. But the bigger disease is in Modi’s mind. Modi deployed 7 lakh soldiers in Kashmir, the same as the total strength of Pakistani forces.”

I am disappointed, says Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh who had received flak for supporting Afridi’s initiative to feed the poor in Pakistan slammed the statements made by their friend. Harbhajan even went onto denounce his friendship with Afridi. He spoke to a media house and said he had broken all ties with the cricketer. He said,

“This man(Afridi) is talking ill about our country. All I have to say is we have nothing to do with Shahid Afridi. He has no right to speak ill against our country and he should stay in his country and limits.”

Yuvraj Singh was the first one among the two to break his silence as he posted his disappointment on Twitter. He said,

“Really disappointed by @SAfridiOfficial’s comments on our Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji. As a responsible Indian who has played for the country, I will never accept such words. I made an appeal on your behest for the sake of humanity. But never again.”

Earlier, Member of Parliament and counterpart of Afridi, Gautam Gambhir responded to Afridi’s statement in a tweet. In the tweet, he wrote,

“Pakistan has 7 lakh force backed by 20 crore people says 16-year-old man @SAfridiOfficial. Yet begging for Kashmir for 70 years. Jokers like Afridi, Imran, and Bajwa can spew venom against India and Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji to fool Pakistan people but won’t get Kashmir till judgment day! Remember Bangladesh?”
