After being in the making for years, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra finally hit the screens in early September. Ayan Mukerji has to say regarding the rumors of Yash and Ranveer Singh playing Dev in the Brahmastra trilogy.
Yash approached for Brahmastra 2
Ranveer Singh and Hrithik Roshan were the two names that were tossed around after the film was released in September and recently, there was a buzz that the Kannada star Yash, who starred in the KGF series, has been approached to play Dev in the Brahmastra trilogy.
The Rocking Star had two rounds of meeting with both Ayan and Karan and later refused to take up the character.
“He felt the film won’t be an ideal follow-up to KGF 2. It’s a plain and simple reason, and certainly, the only one to turn down the offer. He wanted to do something bigger, rather than entering someone else’s franchise by being a father,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
Brahmastra team is looking to make the film bigger with the addition of a star from the South, thereby giving it a Pan India appeal. According to a source, Ayan and Karan are very keen to get a top South star on board. “They are now in the process of shortlisting a couple of more names from the South to play the part. It would be interesting to see if anyone takes up the role of Dev,” the source further told us.
Ayan Mukerji Breaks Silence
Speaking to India Today, Ayan Mukerji addressed the rumors of Yash, Hrithik Roshan, and Ranveer Singh being approached to step into Dev’s shoes. He told the portal, “I love Yash. It would be great if he plays Dev. No, I am joking.” Further adding, “There were rumors about Ranveer Singh, the biggest rumor, and other rumors about other actors but I cannot say anything. The fun of Dev’s story is that it will come at the right time.”
When pressed further, Ayan Mukerji said, “What if somebody is already playing Dev or is in talks… then you are asking me a question that can set the whole thing off. I really cannot answer this right now. Just wait for it, there is fun in waiting too.”
Earlier at an event, Hrithik Roshan had said, “What is happening? Nothing is happening. Next ‘Fighter’ will start and then there is potential for others to be made, (including) the ones you spoke of. Fingers crossed.”
Meanwhile, Brahmastra 2 is expected to go on floors in 2023 and it may hit the big screen in 2025.
