World’s Most Powerful Offshore Wind Turbine Can Power A House For 2 Days With Just One Rotation

We need to start generating as much clean and renewable energy as we possibly can, before the ice caps melt and we all end up in a situation more dire than the current one.

Therefore, it is good news that the US company General Electric has built a wind turbine that is so powerful, that it can fuel a household for two whole days, with only one spin of its mighty blades.

These impressive wind-powered generators are part of a project called Vineyard Wind, to be constructed on the eastern side of the USA off the coast of Massachusetts.

A number of these remarkable turbines, known as the GE Haliade X, will be used in that project.

The GE Haliade X is a remarkable piece of gear. It can produce 13 megawatts (MW) of capacity, which makes it the world’s most efficient wind turbine.

Vineyard Wind CEO Lars T. Pedersen, speaking in a press release at the end of last year, explained just how important this progress is.

He said: “The selection of GE as our preferred turbine supplier means that a historic American company will play a vital role in the development of the first commercial scale offshore wind power in the US.”

“This is a huge moment not only for the future of our project but also for the future of an industry that is poised for exponential growth in the coming decades.”

With just one spin of the blades, GE Haliade X can power a house for two days. That’s up to approximately 312 MWh per day; which places it well ahead of the previous leaders in turbines producing world record energy.
