The wife of Colonel Santosh Babu, who was one of the martyrs in the violent clash that took place in the Galwan valley, has now been appointed as the Deputy Collector by the Telangana government.
The Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao, on Wednesday, handed over the appointment letter to Santoshi Babu, the wife of Santosh. The incident took place at a lunch which was also attended by the senior officers and ministers of the government. As per the official release,
“The state government has appointed Ms. Santoshi, wife of Col Santosh Babu who was martyred in the recent clashes on the Indo-China Border, as Deputy Collector. Honorable Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday at Pragathi Bhavan handed over the appointment letter to Ms. Santoshi.”
A House Has Been Allotted
Along with the appointment letter, she was also handed over the documents of a square yard house site in Hyderabad’s high-end Banjara Hills. It was handed over by collector Shweta Mohanty. Santoshi has a four-year-old son along with an eight-year-old daughter. Apparently, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao also stressed that she must be posted only in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. After the death of her husband, the family was given a relief of Rs. 5 crore financial support. Post receiving the appointment letter, Santoshi said,
“In remembrance of the martyrdom of Col Santosh Babu, CM came to our house and helped…the Collector invited me today, showed the place (land in Hyderabad) to me, and gave the related documents. I am thankful to the CM and collector.”
Santosh Babu was 39-year-old when was martyred in the violent clash that took place between the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army of China in the eastern Ladakh region at the Galwan valley. He was one of the 20 Indian soldiers who were martyred. He was in the 16 Bihar regiment as a commanding officer. He joined the Army in 2004 and received his first posting was in Jammu and Kashmir.
