
An Instagram group chat, ‘Bois Locker Room’ with hundred of boys from South Delhi where they allegedly shared private pictures of girls and especially underage girls, have gone viral and has escalated over the course of few days.
Here are some of the things you need to know about the incident.
Misogynistic comments made
In the group, the boys shared morphed pictures of underage girls and were allegedly promoting rape culture. In a screenshot that has gone viral, the boys are revealed to have planning gang rape and have passed such crude statements. The boys also used the term ‘We can rape her easily’ in the chat.
The chat was leaked by a Twitter User
The screenshots of the group were shared on twitter by a south Delhi girl and titled it ‘Bois locker room’. She even said that, after watching the things on the group, her mom reportedly wants her to leave Instagram.
A violation of law
Morphing photos and the circulation of images of people’s private parts is an offense under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act and also Section 354C of the Indian Penal Code.

Police swung into action on the next day
A day after the incident was shared on social media, the Delhi Police took a minor boy into custody for questioning. A case has been filed under the Information Technology Act.
Cyber Crime Cell issues notice
The Cyber Crime Cell in Delhi has so far questioned five underage students who were a part of the group for six hours in front of their parents. Notices have been issued to the rest of the 21 members of the group to join the probe as soon as possible.
Instagram asked to share details
Additional PRO of Delhi Police, Anil Mittal said that the FIR was filed only after the police went through the screenshots of the group. It is also being said that Instagram has been asked to provide details of all the accounts in the group.
A boy allegedly part of the group committed suicide
On Tuesday, a class 11 boy from Gurugram committed suicide by jumping off the 11th floor. The police suspect his alleged involvement in the ‘Bois Locker Room’ case. The police later confirmed that there wasn’t a suicide note.
