Virat Kohli Breaks Ganguly’s Record To Become Most Successful Test Captain in Overseas

King Kohli is now the most successful overseas test captain of India after leaving behind Sourav Ganguly’s 11 match record win in foreign conditions. India beat West Indies by 318 runs to win the 1st test match in the ongoing Carribean series. The win gave Kohli the joint-most number of victories as India captain, tying for 27 wins with MS Dhoni.

Kohli breaks Ganguly’s record

Throughout the match, bowlers dominated the Windies batting. In the first inning, it was Ishant Sharma who took a fifer and second innings it was Jasprit Bumrah clicked with a fifer. Ajinkya Rahane took the responsibility with the bat and helped India post a huge total for the host. Windies lack of maturity in the batting department restricted them withing 100 runs. Team India won the match by a huge margin (318 runs) and kick-started the world test championship in style. This was also India’s biggest win in overseas conditions as far as the margin of runs is concerned.

Under Virat Kohli, out of 26 matches, India has won 12 games in overseas conditions. Bearing 9 losses and 5 draws, Virat stands 1st in the place amongst the most away test wins as captains. The skipper overtook Sourav Ganguly to be the most successful Indian captain in overseas conditions. Dada has captained the team for 28 test matches and has managed to win 11 games in overseas conditions.

Kohli equals MS Dhoni’s record

The best batsman in the world as a captain has also equaled the number with MS Dhoni for the total number of wins as a captain in the test. Under Dhoni, India played 60 games and has managed to win 27 matches with 18 defeats. However, under Kohli, the team has played only 47 matches and have equaled the number (27 wins) with Dhoni.
