Police have arrested 6 Pro-Kannada activists on the complaint of Jain community in Bengaluru for removing Hindi posters from a temple. According to the Jain community, these activists through their misconduct have hurt their feelings and religious sentiments.
Activists Defaced Hindi Posters Outside Jain Temple
The pro-Kannada activists defaced the posters in Hindi placed outside the Jain temple. Immediately after the arrests, there was an outcry from the pro-Kannada outfit accusing the Bengaluru police of foul and high-handedness. BJP MP from Bengaluru, Tejasvi Surya expressed concern over the alleged attack on Jain community by Bengaluru’s rowdy elements over a banner being written in Hindi.
Surya, a lawyer won a seat to Lok Sabha assembly from Bangalore South in 2019 elections. In his post, the MP said, “Deeply hurt over attack on our Jain brothers in B’luru over Hindi on a banner of a temple by few rowdy elements. They however never question the use of `rb~ (Arabic) in Bengaluru. Assaulting peaceful Jains who contribute to Karnataka brings infamy to genuine Kannada lovers and activists.”

But the pro-Kannada supporting people have raised a hue and cry on social media against the arrest of these activists and even heavily trolled Tejasvi Surya for his comment.
