Johnny Depp won his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard on Tuesday. The jury members found Depp should be awarded $15 million in damages, while Heard should receive $2 million. Johnny Depp won his defamation case
A rejoicing Depp on Wednesday said the jury “gave me my life back” as he was awarded $15 million in damages for defamation, in contrast to just $2 million for his ex-wife, who had counter-sued. Depp’s fans, who have rooted for him throughout the six-week trial, took to Twitter with the hashtag “Truth Wins” to celebrate the verdict.
For those who don’t know, Depp sued Heard for libel in Fairfax County Circuit Court over a December 2018 op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post defining herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Depp’s lawyers said that the actor was defamed by the article even though it never mentioned his name.
As soon as the result was announced, fans who were on Depp’s side expressed their thoughts on Twitter. While some cheered Depp, on the other, there were others who said that the case should end the era of ‘believing women no matter what.’
Twitter Reactions
Johnny Depp winning his defamation case against Amber Heard is a reminder that women CAN be abusers too.
The era of ‘believe women no matter what’ should rightly be put in the dustbin after this verdict.

Amber heard asked Johnny Depp to tell the world that he, a man, was a victim of domestic violence and see who believes him.
He had already won the court of public opinion.

The First Amendment was never intended to protect liars, male or female. True victims of abuse have nothing to fear…imposters not so much. #TruthWins
