Traveling To Karnataka? Take A Look At The New Guidelines Issued By Karnataka Government

The Karnataka State government has released new guidelines for travelers coming into the state. The guidelines will be applicable from the 8th of June.

Registering on the Seva Sindhu Portal remains mandatory while acquiring an e-pass is not. All the passengers from every State will be screened at the border check posts and also in airports, bus stands, and railway stations. A 14-day Home Quarantine is mandatory for all passengers and they are stamped at the back of their hand. However, the government has released different guidelines for Symptomatic and Asymptomatic travelers from the state of Maharashtra.

Symptomatic Travelers

Symptomatic patients who are coming in from other states will be brought to the COVID Care Center and are kept in isolation. They will be tested at the center. The positively tested patients will be admitted to Hospitals whereas the negative ones will be asked to be under strict home quarantine for 14 days.

Asymptomatic travelers

The asymptomatic travelers coming into Karnataka from other states except Maharashtra will be placed under home quarantine for 14 days. If they don’t have an ideal condition for home quarantine, they will be taken to institutional quarantine. The patients who develop symptoms during this period will be tested.

Asymptomatic travelers from Maharashtra

For asymptomatic travelers coming from Maharashtra, seven days of institutional quarantine followed by seven days of home quarantine is prescribed. However, children below the age of 10, pregnant women, elderly people above 60, and those who have visited to attend a death in the family will be exempted from Institutional Quarantine. Their swabs will be taken to testing on the day of their arrival. The testing criteria for Asymptomatic Maharashtra returnees have also been changed.

People above the age of 50 with underlying health conditions such as Tuberculosis, HIV, cancer, hypertension, and other things will be tested between the fifth and seventh days of quarantine.

The rules for business travelers have also been tweaked. Those business travelers who are visiting the state only for 48 hours will be exempted from quarantine and as well as testing. Those who are staying longer than 48 hours and up to seven days will be tested first and then be allowed to resume their work if they are negative. Until the test results arrive, they need to be in Quarantine. The business travelers need to show the return ticket upon arrival.

However, if they carry a negative test report from a lab that is approved by ICMR will be exempted from testing and quarantine.
