After Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor returns to the big screen with Jersey, almost after three years since his last film was released. A Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu film by the same name, Jersey has been written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original.
The story revolves around a talented cricketer, dealing with a flat career and an uncertain future. Arjun Talwar (Shahid Kapoor) is a talented Ranji player, who quits cricket at the age of 26 and after 10 years, decides to restore his career and return to the field. In the process, Arjun also wants to fulfill his son Kitu’s (Ronit Kamra) desire for a jersey and dream of seeing his father play cricket. Arjun also goes through emotional turmoil with his wife Vidya Talwar (Mrunal Thakur) who bears all the financial burden of the family.
‘An emotional end’ a movie like this needs. And the message that it’s never too late to make your dreams come true. Overall, though, Jersey comes in as an inspirational sports drama.
