The love story of Junior Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai is perhaps one of the most successful ones in the Hindi film Industry. The duo got married in 2007 after having fallen in love with each other while shooting together for films which include Dhoom 2 and the ever beautiful, Guru.
What is more fun to know about the film Guru is that, this was the film that ignited love between them and how Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya. The story is that Abhishek used a prop from the film to propose his love to Aishwarya. Abhishek used the ring from the film that the character of Guru uses to propose to his wife played by Rai herself. Abhishek took permission of the film crew and kept it with himself as he said he was emotionally attached to it and used the same ring to propose to Aishwarya Rai.
Prior to this when he was shooting in New York, USA, Abhishek would stand on the balcony of the hotel and wonder how beautiful his life would be if he married Aishwarya Rai, and interestingly later, they were in the same hotel for the premiere of the film Guru!
Abhishek took her to the same balcony in the hotel and with the ring from the film proposed his love to her and wished to marry her, Aishwarya instantly said ‘yes!’.
Speaking about this incident in a magazine Aishwarya said about him, “He is original and real, like our relationship. There is nothing predictable or boring about our life. We nurture each other. The gesture was spontaneous and meaningful. God has been kind to us. We can certainly afford those standard rocks. But do we need them?”
Interestingly, today marks the fifteen years since the film Guru was released. It was directed by Mani Ratnam and apart from Abhishek and Aishwarya, the film starred Madhavan, Vidya Balan, and Mithun Chakroborty in key roles.
