Things Are Getting Ugly Between Distributors And Puri Jagannadh Over Liger Loss

Reports are doing the rounds that after Liger’s failure things have turned ugly between Warangal Srinu (distributor) and Puri Jagannadh. There is a big conflict going on right now between the two and they are dealing with it in Puri Jagan’s office.

An ugly conflict

Before the release of Liger, there were a lot of overconfident statements made by the team along with the star casts. The main culprits however of such careless statements were Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh who sold big dreams to the distributors and the audience. Looking at the confidence of the team, many distributors blindly invested in the film hoping for massive returns. But later we all know what happened with Liger’s overall collection.

One such distributor who invested a lot of money is Warangal Srinu. Reportedly, he acquired Liger rights for entire South versions for a whopping Rs 70 crore. Now, there is no surprise that he is under huge loss after the release of Liger. Reports suggest that after the catastrophic box office run of the film, the distributor lost a minimum of 50 crores.

After this, he demanded that Puri Jagannadh somewhat reimburse for these losses. Puri has started the settlement but the main problem is that Warangal Srinu is demanding more than 20 crores but the director is only ready to provide 7 crores. Also, Srinu considers that he should be given 10 crores for Nizam alone. Adding the other regions like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Vizag, he has asked Puri to pay 20 crores.

Meanwhile, the distributors in the other zones are also after Warangal Srinu for the money and things have turned ugly. There is a big argument going on right now and it’s all happening in Puri Jagan’s office.

Vijay Deverakonda’s response

There were also reports going viral that Vijay Deverakonda has also decided to forego Rs 6 crore from his remuneration after the poor box office performance of Liger. This amount will help the producers, Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur, in compensating the distributors for the losses incurred.

Last week, distributor Warangal Srinu said that Puri Jagannadh promised to return to Hyderabad and hold a meeting with all the distributors to discuss the losses.

Meanwhile, Liger is a sports drama written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Vijay Deverakonda played the role of an MMA artist, while Ananya Panday played his romantic interest. Liger was made on a budget of Rs 90 crore by Puri Jagannadh, Karan Johar, and Charmme Kaur. Ronit Roy, Ramya Krishnan, Makarand Deshpande, and Vish Reddy were seen in supporting roles.
