‘Find me a better actor than Alia and Ranbir’. That’s what filmmaker R Balki had said about a month ago when the nepotism debate had gained momentum once again. He became the eye of a storm and received a lot of backlash from social media users including celebs like Shekhar Kapur and Apurva Asrani who responded with a list of actors who are brilliant at their craft.
Best actors today are coming from theatre. Theres new found respect for them. And confidence.
I’ve worked with Naseer, Shabana,Satish Kaushik, Seema Biswas and entire cast of Bandit Queen, Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush, Heath Ledger Daniel Craig Eddy Redmayne
All are from theatre— Shekhar Kapur (@shekharkapur) July 17, 2020
Some filmmakers & journalists are so star struck, that they gush over mediocre actors with famous surnames. Repeatedly, these actors headline projects & the press gushes. Talented actors are mostly used as garnishing–to make the mediocre look better, but NEVER to outshine them.

Once again his statement has become a butt of controversy after Kangana Ranaut’s Team wrote on Twitter, “Somebody needs to find R Balki he is hiding, he said there are no better actors than Ranbir and Alia.”
This, she wrote in response to the backlash Sadak 2 trailer has been garnering. The trailer has become 7th most disliked video in the world with 5.8 million dislikes. A lot of social media users are trolling it.
Responding to the same, Kangana called Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt “below average” actors. Furthermore, she said, “their time is up.”
“Sharm Karlo, thodi Sharm Karlo, brainwashing ki bhi limit hoti hai (have some shame, there is a limit to brainwashing the public), both pappus are below average glorified by mafia media, their friends and fake awards, their time is up,” she wrote.
