World’s Most Expensive Ganesha Idol
Rajesh Bhai Pandav who belongs from Katargam, Surat, has bought an idol made of diamond which now costs nearly around 500 crores in India. It is said that, back in 2005, Rajesh had bought a rough diamond, 24.11 mm tall and 16.49 mm wide, made up of 27.74 carats, imported from South Africa for a sum of Rs 29,000. After he bought the diamond it looked like Lord Ganesha. It had arrived in India as part of an auction from Mbuzi mine in Congo that year.
Rajesh later took the diamond to his home and since then his family has decided to worship the idol every Ganesh Festival. “On the insistence of the local industry association, it was displayed at ‘Sparkle’, the annual exhibition for the diamond industry in Surat in 2016. Since then it has got wide publicity,” said the businessman.
Blessings of Ganesha
The businessman also told that since he brought the idol into his house lord Ganesha has blessed him in all kinds. “Now, I have a small polishing unit. You get such things only if you have faith in God. The shape of Ganesh is also rare. It has a trunk on the right. Moreover, it is natural. There is no human intervention,” said Rajesh.
He was also offered to buy the idol but he and his family denied such proposals. The family keeps the idol in a secrete safe and takes it out only during Ganesh Festivals.
