Taliban Holds Mock US Funeral As Troops Leave Afghanistan, See Pics

On August 30, the last US Soldier left Afghanistan ending a two decade long war in the country. Joe Biden had earlier confirmed that before September all the troops would be leaving the country and would pave the way for Afghans to make their own life filled with freedom and accordingly the US didn’t vacate the nation. However after US, UK forces left, Talibani supporters celebrated the withdrawal in a mocking way.

Taliban Celebrated With US Flag Over Coffins

Taliban supporters paraded coffins draped with American and NATO flags in the eastern city of Khost on Tuesday, part of celebrations across the country following the withdrawal of the last US troops.

The mock funeral, in which coffins covered in French and British flags were also carried along the street through a large crowd, marked the end of a 20-year war and a hasty and humiliating exit for Washington and its NATO allies. Some of the crowd held guns aloft, while others waved Taliban flags or snapped the procession on mobile phones.

Taliban Celebrated August 31 As Freedom Day

“August 31 is our formal Freedom Day. On this day, American occupying forces and NATO forces fled the country,” Taliban official Qari Saeed Khosti told a local television station during its coverage of the event.

Footage from Khost was shared widely on social media on Tuesday alongside other videos of celebratory gunfire in the capital Kabul and a man dangling from a US-made Black Hawk helicopter circling above Afghanistan’s second-city Kandahar.

However the Pentagon announced that  the US military was not concerned by the images as the helicopters could not be flown. The departing US troops destroyed more than 70 aircraft and dozens of armoured vehicles. They also disabled air defences which were used by US forces to defend the IS missiles during the evacuation process.

Altogether the US rushed and were successful in evacuating 123,000 civilians from Afghanistan ending a chaotic siege over a foreign nation. Now as they are gone the Taliban is celebrating on their backs by mocking the western forces. They claim that they were the reason behind taming the westerners from the nation. Well, they seem not to care that the world is closely looking at all their antics.
