Former United States President Barack Obama in his memoir ‘A Promised Land’ described Rahul Gandhi as “a student who had done the coursework and was eager to impress the teacher but deep down lacked either the aptitude or the passion to master the subject.”

He has “a nervous, unformed quality about him,” wrote Obama.

Obama also mentioned former Indian PM Manmohan Singh saying he has a kind of impassive integrity. The former US President also described other world leaders and their traits in his memoir. Calling former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy “bold and opportunistic”, Obama said, “his chest thrust out like a bantam cock’s.”

Describing former Chinese President Hu Jintao and his quirky way of conducting bilateral talks, Obama said that Jintao reads from stacks of prepared papers during a private meeting which is so monotonous that he once considered suggesting that “both could save each other time by just exchanging papers and reading them at their leisure.”
