In a recent media interaction, Varun Dhawan was asked about Hindi movies that turned out to be a flop at the box office. To which, the actor said South movies have flopped as well.
The North vs South debate
The North vs South debate, which sparked after the success of 3 South movies, KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, and Pushpa proved to be monstrous hits at the box office. Meanwhile, Bollywood movies have recently failed at the BO. Speaking of which, Varun Dhawan recently shared his thoughts on this ongoing discussion. During a recent media interaction, the actor was asked about the same.
Sharing his thoughts on the North vs South debate, Varun said, “7-8 major flops have happened in their cinema also. That has also happened because nothing was released in the last 2 and a half years. I feel a good film will come. In the Hindi film industry, we have a lot of good films coming up. Every film can’t be a hit. The audience won’t watch a bad film, whether it is English, Hindi, or a South film. They will not watch.”
Varun about KGF 2
Talking about his current favorite from the latest releases, he said, “Overall, cinema is doing well right now. The audience has the right to watch the cinema they want to watch. Hollywood films have been working for so many years. It is because they are liking it and, therefore, they are watching it. I myself enjoyed watching KGF 2. I had a great time watching it. It is one of the biggest grosser right now.”
On the work front, Varun is busy promoting his upcoming film, Jugjugg Jeeyo. The actor will be seen alongside Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film is scheduled to release on June 24, 2022. After that, the actor has Bhediya with Kriti Sanon and Bawaal with Janhvi Kapoor lined up.
