Last year, a big announcement was made about a film based on the popular superhero show Shaktimaan. Now, Mukesh Khanna, the original Shaktimaan from the 90s, has revealed that the film on Shaktimaan is in the making and the contracts have been signed.
Mukesh Khanna gives Big Update
Mukesh Khanna, the veteran actor, has been away from the screen for quite some time, but he once ruled the television industry. Two of his television roles, as Bhishma in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat and as the superhero Shaktimaan in the eponymous show, established him as a household name. Children who grew up in the 1990s remember Mukesh Khanna as their childhood hero and have always wanted to see a live-action Shaktimaan film. The film had previously been announced but had been postponed several times. However, fans can rejoice because Mukesh Khanna recently revealed that a Shaktimaan film is very much in the works.
He has now opened up on why the film has been delayed. Speaking on his YouTube channel Bheeshm, Mukesh Khanna said, “Contract has been signed. This is going to be a massive-level film. One film would cost Rs 200-300 crore and it will be made by Sony Pictures.”
“It is the same studio that made the Spiderman films, so you can imagine the scale,” he added.
His participation in the film
Mukesh Khanna went on to say, “I recently told someone that this is not a small film, it is a massive film and that takes time. A lot of things are happening, but I am not allowed to talk. The big question is, will I be Shaktimaan? Who will play it? I can’t reveal it. But I will be in the film, Shaktimaan can’t be made without me, everyone knows.”
He also informed his fans that he would be unable to appear in Shaktimaan’s outfit for the time being because the film’s producers do not want any comparisons. He also promised to make an official announcement about the cast and crew soon.
