
Veteran Kannada actress B Shantamma has passed away in Mysuru today. The experienced professional was 95 years old. She had been living with her daughter in Mysuru.
She had acted in close to 160 films
Having started her career in 1956 with the movie Ohileshwara, B Shantamma went on to become a prominent feature in many yesteryear movies. Some of her popular films include Naandi, Nodi Swamy Naavirodu Heege, and Babruvahana.
She was seen in Siddaramaiah’s Janata Darshan
During Siddaramaiah’s reign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he was part of numerous Janata Darshan’s where he directly interacted with the citizens of the state. In one such meet, B Shanthamma had appealed to the Congress leader for financial help. Siddaramaiah had directed his officials to provide the help needed then.
Ever since the lockdown in the country started, India has lost many of its talents in the movie industry. While in Bollywood, the likes of Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, and Sushant Singh Rajput breathed their last, Sandalwood lost Chiranjeevi Sarja and Hulivana Gangadharaiah.
