The crisis in Rajasthan is getting uglier as Sachin Pilot, the Deputy Chief Minister and the state chief of the Congress party has claimed that he has the support of 30 MLAs.
As per a report in the Free Press Journal, Sachin Pilot is likely to form his own party which will be called Pragatisheel Congress. With that, he is likely to become the Chief Minister of Rajasthan state with the outside support from the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, it is not confirmed yet as what Sachin Pilot is likely to do.
On Sunday evening, the office of Sachin Pilot had claimed that the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan is in minority as 30 MLAs of the Congress and some independent MLAs have pledged support to the deputy chief minister. Following this, the Rajasthan Congress held a press conference on Monday which was done by the general secretary Avinash Pande who claimed that Congress is still in majority as 109 MLAs have pledged support to Ashok Gehlot.
On Monday morning, the Rajasthan Congress legislative party had called for a meeting at the residence of the Chief Minister. Post that, the congress held another press conference where it said that they have been in touch with Sachin Pilot and other rebel MLAs and are confident that the government will stay solid. They also said that Pilot and his associates are welcome to have a dialogue with the party if they have any problem to address. However, before the meeting, Pande had claimed that Sachin Pilot has not been receiving any calls from him.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said,
“I want to clearly state that Congress’s government is stable in Rajasthan and we will complete the full term. No amount of conspiracy by BJP will be successful in toppling our government in the state.”
There were rumors that Sachin Pilot would join the BJP like his friend and counterpart Jyotiraditya Scindia but it seems that Pilot has squashed those rumors as he does not want to compromise on his ideology.
