Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Beats KGF 2, Becomes Highest-Rated Indian Film

The box office success of Kantara, which has continued its rampage at the box office, shows no signs of slowing down. Kantara has now received India’s highest rating as Hombale movie on IMDb.

Kantara beats KGF 2

Rishab Shetty’s latest release Kannada film Kantara has already become a blockbuster from Sandalwood, and now it has also become one of the highest-rated Indian films on IMDB. Kantara is written and directed by Rishab and he also stars in the key role of the film. The Hindi dub version of Kantara was released in North India today October 14.

As per the latest standing of IMDB, with 13,000 votes, Kantara has scored 9.6 out of 10. The latest action-drama has beat some of the biggest blockbusters in the database. When it comes to comparison, Rakshit Shetty’s 777 Charlie scored 9.0, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram 8.4, Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 scored 8.4, and RRR 8 on IMDB.

Third-highest-grossing movie

Moreover, after KGF 2 (Rs. 171.50 crores) and RRR (Rs. 86 crores), Kantara is now the third-highest-grossing movie of the year in Karnataka; it will pass the latter in either the third week or fourth weekend. The current state of the movie makes a target of at least Rs. 100 crores look extremely realistic. The flick has to keep a third-week gross of at least Rs. 20 crores to break the three-digit barrier; however, this shouldn’t be an issue given how well weekdays are doing.

The film is written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara is a period-action thriller that explores the traditional culture of Kambla and Buta Kola. Rishab plays two distinct characters in the movie. The cast also includes Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, and Pramod Shetty. Kantara has collected nearly Rs 58 crore in Karnataka so far. It remains to be seen whether the movie is able to work its magic in Hindi.
