Retired Major Gaurav Arya Slammed On Twitter For Disrespecting Senior War Veterans

Retired Major General Gaurav Arya who is now a television host at the Republic TV faced a barrage of criticism by former Indian Army Personnel and war veterans on Sunday. The criticism came after a brief exchange of tweets between the veterans and the retired Major.

The veterans took a jibe at the Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami and Major Gaurav Arya for defending the supposed lies of the central government. Brigadier Sandy Thapar tweeted,

“Ajai Shukla is the flavor of the day on Republic TV..16 mins into the show, Arnab Goswami has named him 49 times & now its turn of Lt. Gen HS Panag! Major Gaurav Arya says I’ve been tolerating these two for 2-3 years now but won’t now!”

Lt. Gen HS Panag replied to Brigadier Sandy and said Two hoots. Man Aman Singh Chhina also responded to the tweet. Aman Singh Chhina now works as a journalist and writes for the Indian express on Defence and National Security, Military History and Politics replied,

“Well said sir. You need not respond to charlatans who know less about military tactics than a NCO.”

Major Gaurav Arya responded to the banter and warned the veterans of being publicly thrashed. He wrote,

“Sandy Thapar, Gen Panag and Man Aman Singh Chinna..don’t think that I cannot respond. Don’t cry when you get a thrashing in public. If you want to try, go ahead. And Man Aman Singh Chinna, don’t try to f**k with your pop, you joker.”

Chhina was quick to reply and asked Arya to stay in limits. It didn’t take long for the banter to become a Twitter war. Arya continued to attack the war veterans and said,

“Sandy, you are jealous. You must have dragged your ass all over Mahajan and now you are wondering who is this guy?”

This apparently didn’t go well with Brigadier Sandy Thapar. He attacked Gaurav Arya as a response and wrote,

“Lol. Darling I joined St. Stephen’s before you were born. Honorably served 36 years vs your 6 in army. Served 11 years in Jammu and Kashmir (double your entire service). Was involved with media before you could spell news. People tell me despite being 60, I still look better than you. Me jealous?”

Arya again attacked Brigadier and mocked his service. He also said that the Brigadier would get a rocket up his backside and also said Chinna would get two rockets. Thapar shut Arya and asked him to respect his seniors. He said,

“It’s Brig Thapar. Shows how much you learned in your limited service in the Army! Incidentally, your bn was part of my bde. A very fine bn but I guess somewhat erred in your grooming. I put in 36 years, which is 7 times yours. Kindly don’t teach me. BTW even my son has twice your service!”

Social media since then has slammed Major Gaurav Arya for disrespecting senior retired officers. Other retired officers also condemned the language of Arya. On Monday morning, Brigadier Thapar apologized for the foul language used in his timeline.
