After Jio launched the beta of True-5G services in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Varanasi, and Nathdwara, the telecommunications company on Thursday announced that it extended Jio True-5G’s reach across two more cities, namely Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
5G services in Bengaluru
Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has revealed the rollout of Jio True-5G services in India’s southern cities, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. With this, the company’s 5G services are now available in eight cities across the country.
Previously, Jio announced the beta trials of its Jio True-5G services in four cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi- on October 5. Before Diwali, the company rolled out its beta to Chennai and Nathdwara.
“Jio is expanding Jio True-5G’s reach across more cities, namely Bengaluru & Hyderabad. JioTrue5G, in these two tech-centric cities, will help realize the true prospect of some of the latest technologies that will serve humanity and improve the quality of life of Indians,” Reliance Jio said in its press release.
5G Welcome Offer
Like the launch of its 4G services, Jio is back with a Welcome offer for 5G. As part of the Jio Welcome Offer, selected customers are requested to use Jio’s 5G services with unlimited data without any additional costs. Users get access to data with up to 1 Gbps speed.
“Jio users are experiencing speeds anywhere between 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps on their smartphones and are using very high quantities of data,” the company added.
The Jio Welcome Offer is being made available to selected customers through the MyJio app. This offer is available only to users with an active base plan worth Rs 239 or more.
As part of the offer, users can now use unlimited 5G data without worrying about running out of data. Only 4G usage will be counted towards the user’s daily data claim.
Meanwhile, Airtel is the only other telco that has rolled out 5G services in India. The company launched 5G in India on October 1 with eight cities and is currently live in nine cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, Varanasi, and Panipat.
