Rajinikanth Is Set To Play The Character Of A Police Officer In The Movie Titled Darbar, After 25 Long Years

The first-look poster of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film has been unveiled. Starring Rajinikanth and Nayanthara, and is the Tamil Superstar’s first collaboration with director A.R. Murugadoss. The first look was released on Tuesday morning.

Darbar, a much-awaited film

The film, titled Darbar, appears to be a cop drama. In the first look poster, Rajinikanth’s exhilarated picture takes the center stage as a symbol from a cop’s uniform including a belt and a shoulder badge surround him. A police dog, several guns and the Gateway of India also appear on the first look poster. The filmmakers have not shared too many details about the project, which was earlier called Thalaivar 167.

Lyca Production and Superstar Rajinikanth will be collaborating for the third time after Kaala and 2.0. Rajinikanth was last seen in the role of a police officer in movies like Pandian, Kodi Parakuthu and Moondru Mugam and almost after two decades, he will be seen as a police officer on the screen.

Two Stars get together again

The film also features actress Nayanthara in an important role. On Monday, Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz Ahmed confirmed Nayanthara’s casting on Twitter. He wrote: “The rumors being speculated about the cast of Thalaivar 167 is not authentic. As of now, only Nayanthara has been roped in the film. Kindly do not spread the news until you get an official press release about the entire confirmed cast.”

Nayanthara has previously worked with the superstar in films like Shivaji, Chandramukhi and Kuselan. On the other hand, not much is revealed in the poster other than his face. The first look also carried what seemed to be the Gateway of India in Mumbai, hinting that the story might be based in the western metropolis. However, Rajinikanth looks stylish as always in Darbar.
