Rahul Dravid is known for his superior record and dependability as a cricketer. Now it seems his son has chosen to walk his father’s footsteps to become a disciplined cricketer. Dravid has now become a proud father as his son, Samit, scored a doubled hundred in an under 14 state-level match this week.
Walking his father’s footsteps
Rahul Dravid is one of the legends of Indian cricket who has broken many records during his international career. He is not just a cricketer but also a leader, a teammate and a wonderful human being. Rahul Dravid’s teammates didn’t nickname him Mr. Dependable for anything. Dravid always protected his team. The nickname ‘The Wall’ rightly fits him. Walking in his father’s footsteps, little Samit is also learning to be a true champion for his team.
Rahul Dravid’s son, Samit Dravid scored 201 for Vice-President’s XI vs Dharwad Zone in an Under-14 inter-zonal tournament here. The 14-year-old’s innings lasted 256 balls including 22 hits to the fence.
That was not it, he remained unbeaten in the 2nd innings as he scored 94 and the match ended in a draw. When he thought it was not enough with the bat, he delivered it with the ball. Samit also took 3 wickets to display his all-round skills.
Other highlights of Samit’s performance
Samit earned a spotlight in 2015 at the U-12 level cricket in Bengaluru by thumping three half-centuries playing for his school Mallya Aditi International.
In 2016, Samit was in the headlines again when he scored 125 against Frank Anthony Public School. His team registered a thumping 246-run win at the Loyola school grounds in a 30-over game.
Rahul Dravid is one of the inspirations of Indian cricket with close to 25,000 international runs. He always believed himself. He did not attain success overnight. It was through hard work and determination that he slowly and steadily achieved each milestone. It looks like Samit is certainly following in his dad’s footsteps.
