Rahul Dravid To Reportedly Be India’s Head Coach For The Limited-Overs Tour To Sri Lanka In July

As per various reports, Rahul Dravid will be Team India’s Head Coach for the limited-overs tour to Sri Lanka in July. The board has confirmed that the players part of the England Tour will not be called back for the Sri Lanka series. Hence, it will be a second-string Indian squad that will tour the island nation.

Shikhar Dhawan or Hardik Pandya to lead?

It will be a young squad that will tour Sri Lanka as most of the seniors and the other important members will be in England. At the moment, Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the seniors who might be available for this series. The captain will likely be selected amongst this trio.

Rahul Dravid to be the Head Coach

With Ravi Shashtri and his team travelling to England, it has been reported that Rahul Dravid and his team at NCA will travel to Sri Lanka with the Indian limited-overs squad. Dravid has previously held a role as the coach of the U19 and the India A squads. Hence, most of the youngsters who will be selected for the Sri Lanka series have already been tutored by Dravid before.

Dravid has experience of being the Head Coach

Dravid’s stint as the Head Coach of the India A and U19 squads has led to the strong bench strength that Team India boasts of right now. The former India skipper has also coached teams like Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. Moreover, with Dravid also being the current head of NCA, he looks to be the best option to travel with the young squad.
