The man who is hardly hated by any, the one who has a different ideology of class batting. However, there are many who come to play but only a few are remembered for how they have played. Rahu Dravid has proven his worth as one of the foremost players of the Indian cricket team. And now as the fine coach of the junior Indian cricket team.
However, the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators are looking for a greater role for Rahul Dravid. The former India captain, who is already the coach of India A and Under-19 teams, may well head the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru in the near future.
Rahul for a role with much more Responsibilities
It looks like Rahul Dravid is amongst the favorite for BCCI for this role. Initially, the Board realized that in the past few years, they directly appointed some questionable personnel for high-level jobs and their helplessness to hold the positions has caused them huge disappointments. In order to prevent something like that from happening, they have decided to carry out the process of the representative CV-based appointments.
Not to forget that Dravid has experience of over 164 Tests and 344 ODIs for India and has over 10,000 runs in both formats of the game. And under his coaching, the Under-19 squad lifted the 2018 ICC U-19 World Cup and 2018 Asia Cup championship.
Now, however, the BCCI has decided to not go ahead with that plan and instead requires Dravid to wait and apply for the job just like all the new candidates. Quite frankly, this is nothing more than an insult to ‘The Wall’ and his legacy.
Vinod Rai, the CoA chairman addressed the media after a five-hour-long meeting in New Delhi on Saturday. He told, “It is true that we are looking at expanding the role of Dravid to possibly the head coach of the NCA. It is not that he will be given full charge of domestic cricket in the country. However, the due process of selecting the head coach of NCA will be followed. We’ll come out with an advertisement inviting applications and the best person for the job will be selected. Dravid will need to apply for the position.” Report N18
