KGF: Chapter 2 is the new biggest hit in the country and the film is bagging massive revenues in all the languages. Prashanth Neel, following the blockbuster success of the KGF franchise, will be working with Telugu stars like Prabhas, and Jr NTR. The KGF director further reveals why he chose to do his next cinema with Tollywood stars.
A sought-after filmmakers
Prashanth Neel has become one of the most sought-after filmmakers in South Indian cinema now. Not just Kannada Industry the whole country has recognized him as a potent filmmaker. After the success of KGF 2, the expectations on Salaar have increased significantly.
It is also expected to give Prabhas the much-needed break as he has been struggling to deliver an enjoyable box office hit after the Baahubali franchise. Prashanth Neel could be that man who can give that success to the Pan India star.
Culture of Tollywood
Meanwhile, during an interview with Anushree, Prashanth Neel explains why he chose Tollywood celebrities for his upcoming films.
To this Prashanth Neel explains that he received the first two calls from Jr. NTR and Mahesh Babu after the KGF success. “The culture of these people is amazing. If you have done a good job, these people will appreciate you. It is not like they invited me to do a film. It was the love that they brought. I like to meet such kinds of people and develop a relationship with them.”
The 41-year-old explains why having a relationship between these celebrities is like having an Arranged marriage or a Love marriage.
“If you are making a film and there is a hero allotted randomly, that becomes an arranged marriage. On the other hand, there is a hero you meet multiple times, if you like him you can take him for your movie, this is a Love marriage for me,” said Prashanth Neel and laughed.
Opting for Tollywood for the next projects
Asking a very bold question, Anushree pointed out why was this Pan India director moving out of Karnataka and picking Tollywood celebrities.
Answering the question, the director said it was all because of the KGF franchise. “Without KGF, people wouldn’t have recognized me in the first place. The Yash starrer film became the pride of every Kannadiga. I never dreamt that this film would receive this much love. And I had never planned to take Kannada Cinema to a next level. I am a simple man. My goal was to give what Yash and Vijay Kiragandur wanted.”
Further answering the question he said, “I cannot forget that I am here as a director for doing business. It’s not like the Telugu industry gives you more money. It’s about the friendly relationship I like about them.”
Prashanth Neel points out that people should not think that he has started doing work outside Karnataka just because of the popularity he has received.
“2 years back I wished Jr. NTR on his birthday. There were lots of negative comments I received. For 4 hours I was disturbed. I was wondering what my mistake was. That was the only last time I was disillusioned.”
“These people don’t know my life or my journey. So I cant blame them. If I was in their place, even I would have felt the same. It’s right what they are doing and I have no objection. Language is not a barrier for me. I will keep working with films that have good scripts,” concludes Prashanth.
