Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. The BJP leader also revealed that he was getting admitted to a hospital.
Amit Shah tests positive for COVID-19
As the news of Amit Shah testing positive for COVID-19 became official, the discussion shifted to other matters. India’s HM had been part of a cabinet meeting a couple of days ago, and there are reports that an extensive contact tracing has already started in the parliament.
That aside, many are now pulling out a tweet of PM Narendra Modi which was posted three days ago. In the tweet, PM Modi had shared a link with details related to NEP and there was also a picture of himself along with his ministers in a meeting. Seated to his left in the picture was Home Minister Amit Shah.
Will PM Modi attend the Ram Temple event?
On Wednesday, PM Modi was all set to lay the foundation stone for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This was speculated to be one of the highlight moments in his tenure. However, with Amit Shah testing positive for COVID-19, doubts have started to arise whether PM Modi would be available for the event in the first place.
PM Modi will fall into the ‘primary contact’ category, and as per the norm, such individuals will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days. Hence, if Modi follows the procedure, he will have to miss out on the ceremony at Ayodhya. And the ceremony would likely remain without sheen if PM Modi does not attend it.
Although the cabinet meeting was held with right precautions, it needs to be seen which direction the matter would take. Twitter and Congress, too, had the same questions:
On July 29th, three days ago, wasn't @narendramodi with @AmitShah in a Cabinet meeting?
If so, now that Shah has tested positive, shouldn't Modi go into quarantine and isolate himself?

Modi was with Shah in last wednesday's cabinet meeting? He must quarantine immediately! Will he then be able to attend the Ayodhya event? Looks like Advani will have the last laugh..

Prime Minister needs to be tested and has to self-isolate because Amit Shah attended the Cabinet meeting on July 29. The question is: does he consider Covid19 to be serious enough to undergo this? There's no bigger indicator of seriousness than the 37,000+ people who died. https://t.co/Pp9h5KY11M

But Home Minister himself in his tweet has asked his recent contacts to test & self isolate. And he did attend Cabinet meet on 29th. An On record clear statement from GOI is needed if entire cabinet & PM Modi need to self isolate instead of information that leave room for doubts. https://t.co/mKQIQh7Zl6

Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Prime Minister were present in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday,
Will the Prime Minister also be a self quarantine or is the rule just for the public?
