Prime Minister Narendra Modi will released a commemorative coin of Rs 100 through a virtual ceremony in honour of Vijaya Raje Scindia on her birth centenary. Vijaya Raje Scindia was known as Rajmata of Gwalior.
The coin has been made by finance ministry, keeping in mind Vijaya Raje Scindia’s centenary. Family members of Vijaya Raje Scindia and the people from across the country will participate in launching of this commemorative coin by the Prime Minister.
“On the occasion of birth anniversary of Rajmata VIjaya Raje Scindia on October 12, the government will release a Rs100 commemorative coin to mark her centenary. This will be part of her centenary celebrations and an occasion to pay respect to the great personality,” PM Narendra Modi had tweeted on Sunday.
Daughter of Vijaya Raje Scindia and Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia expressed her gratitude towards the Prime Minister through a tweet. She tweeted,” I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the commemorative coin to mark the centenary of Vijaya Raje Scindia, who was deeply attached with Jan Sangh, and was an ideal nationalist. The blessings and inspiration of Amma Ma Maharaj will `give you eternal success and long life.”
The coin will contain picture of Rajmata on one side and ‘ Smt Vijaya Raje Scindia’s centenary’ is inscribed in HIndi on the top of it, while the same is written in English at the bottom of the coin. The coin also mentions her birth anniversary (1919) and her centenary year (2019). India is written on the other side of the coin along with Ashoka pillar, while Rs 100 is written on bottom of it.
Who is Vijaya Raje Scindia?
Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia was a leader of Jana Sangh and was one of the founders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Belonging from a Royal family, Vijaya Raje Scindia was a big face of the BJP. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and MP cabinet minister Yashodhara Raje are her daughters and Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia is her grandson.
