Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan has called the decision of the Indian government to ban Chinese app TikTok “impulsive” while comparing it to demonetisation.
“It’s an impulsive decision. What’s the strategic plan? What about the people who will be unemployed? People will suffer like demonetisation,” Nusrat Jahan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

I don't have any problem with the ban as it is for national security but who'll answer these question: Nusrat Jahan https://t.co/xfEYUhSl4v pic.twitter.com/OMmh5FB9je

Nusrat Jahan asked: “I don’t have any problem with the ban as it is for national security but who’ll answer these questions?”
The TMC MP made these remarks on TikTok ban on Wednesday as she took part in the Ulta Rath Yatra celebrations by Iskcon in Kolkata.
TikTok, short video sharing app, went offline in the country following the government order banning it and 58 other apps citing threat to India’s sovereignty and security.
On Tuesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said merely banning Chinese apps will not be enough. “Only banning some apps will not give the results. We want to give China a befitting reply and how we do it, that the government has to decide,” Mamata Banerjee said.
“Otherwise people of this country might question the government’s stand,” the Bengal chief minister said while seeking an “aggressive response” from the Centre.
