It’s been two days since the horrific visuals of the violence that happened in Padarayanapura shook the state government of Karnataka. Padarayanpura is incidentally one of the major hotspots of the city.
Following the violence that broke out in the area, the police reportedly conducted the hunt for the miscreants and arrested 59 of them. The security has been strengthened in the area with over 15 policemen deployed to every street. A total of 800 policemen are deployed to the ward. The mobility of people has been contained at large.
On Monday, the sources from the police said that the arrested individuals are not cooperating with the investigation process. The police also said that they are still on the lookout for the main accused, Irfan, who is believed to have provoked the people.
Congress offers support to Government
The main opposition party in the state, the Indian National Congress, came out and offered full support to Chief Minister BS Yediyurapaa in the matter. The Congress also condemned the incident and asked for strict actions against the culprits. The party’s state President, DK Shivkumar put out a statement condemning the incident. He said,
“We support and stand by whatever the CM has decided to do. This is a crime committed by individuals, not a community. We don’t want this to become a communal issue. But you know the kind of statements being made by BJP leaders. From the beginning, there have been attempts to incite violence.”
DK Shivkumar also held a meeting with the Muslim leaders about the situation. MLA Rizwan Arshad condemned the incident but also said one community should not be targeted for the wrongdoings of some. Meanwhile, Zameer Ahmed Khan, the MLA of Chamarajapete Constituency of which Padarayanapura is a part, put out a series of tweets.

6/10#Covid19India
