Confirmed Facts about KGF starring Rocking star Yash
KGF is getting ready under the direction of Uggram Director, Prashanth Neil
Without a second thought, Uggram is one of the most loved movies of Kannada and its roaring success is an attestation to it. This is the movie which gave a strong come back for the actor Murali by breaking all the stereotypes of traditional movie making. The way Prashanth Neil narrated the story of Uggram in the backdrop of music and blood is truly phenomenal. With a director of that stature and an actor like Yash coming together for KGF has completely raised the bar of expectations.
KGF was conceptualized when Yash’s Googly was released
Around the time when Prashanth Neil conceptualized the story of KGF he had seen Yash’s performance in Googly and was impressed. At that point he had decided that Yash is the best suit for the role though he was not a popular star back than he is today. It was a time when there were talks about the remake of Uggram in Tamil, and Prashanth was persuaded by Yash till he finishes all his commitments. It’s a long journey for KGF and finally, it is all set to release.
Prashanth says, “I had seen a spark in Yash when I watched Googly and we have a big cinema in hand and it is all worth the wait now.”
KGF is an underworld story of old Kolar
The team has revealed that KGF is an underworld story of Kolar when it was at its peak. In this context, the movie has been extensively shot in Badami and the whole set was erected to recreate the Kolar of 1970s and 1980s.
It took a year and a half for research before the final story was drafted
Speaking about the movie, Prashanth Neil says, “We took almost a year and- a-half to research the subject and several people were involved. The direction team alone consists of seven people.”
KGF is one of the high budget movies of Sandalwood. Nearly 50 Crores
KGF has turned out to be the most expensive movie for Sandalwood. KGF is bigger than the sets and backdrops. The director was little skeptical about the budget. He thought it could be a constraint for the film of this scale. He was also doubtful about the lead role and he has said to the producer, “ I have something which is not feasible for Sandalwood and the film will work for actors like Surya in Tamil.” When the producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombal films came forward to back the film, Prashanth could not think of any actor than Yash as the actor has that capability to take the responsibility of bigger expectations.
The main cast will have 15 artists
Sources say that the cast of KGF includes Ananth Nag, Ramya Krishnan, Achyuth Kumar and other new faces in the prominent roles. The film features Srinidhi Shetty (actress), Bhuvan Gowda (Cinematography), and Ravi Basrur (Music).
KGF has set a record of making insurance for the whole cast and crew of it
After the unfortunate incident happened during the shoot of Mastigudi, Yash and the producer Vijay Kiragandur has taken the special safety measures. The team has made insurance for the whole cast and crew of KGF.
Speaking to the media, Yash said, “ It is important to have the security in the place where we shoot. With this regard, I spoke to our producer. Everyone’s life is precious to us. So, we have taken this step. When we are spending crores on the movie, it becomes equally important to spend some money on insurance. It would be great if this is made a mandatory practice in Kannada film industry.”
Tamannah Bhatia in a Retro number
One of the commercial attractions of KGF would be a retro number featuring Tamannah and Yash. It carries the old-world charm of the song ‘Jokae naanu balliya minchu’, reinvented from the 1970 Dr.Rajkumar starred Paropakari. It is said that Tamannah Bhatia is paid a whopping Rs.50 lakh for this performance.
Speaking about her appearance in the song, Tamannah said to media, “This is the first time I will be doing a retro number. I’ve never had such a fun-filled fulfilling experience as I did on this dance sequence. It is a retro cabaret set-up and I’ve never attempted to do this before so, it was a learning experience of sorts.”
First Kannada film to have a Five-Language Release
To put it in Prashanth’s words, he says that the team had started the movie on a big canvas but in the process, the producers have decided to venture beyond the Karnataka market and globalize the product.
He said that the idea of five-language release came from the producer, owing to the story being universal irrespective of budget and scale. He said, “I could have made the product in Marathi or in Tulu and still people would have connected with the subject as it has a parallel line drawn throughout the narrative.”
Though the team is looking to create an impact across the borders, Prashanth is clear and said, “Our Primary goal is to satisfy the audience in Karnataka. This is something we don’t want to deviate from.”
It is about Greed and Gold
In an interview to Times of India, the director has opened up on the subject of KGF. He said, “KGF has a strong texture of gold in it and it is all about greed and gold.” Speaking further, he added, “In 1978, the price of gold went up the highest in the recorded history. It is because of the cold war that happened between USA and USSR which had an effect on Afghanistan and Iran.” Prasanth quotes this history piece to justify his reason to have 1978 set up in the movie. So, an overall theme of KGF can be put like this – “Higher the price of gold, the higher the greed of men.”
KGF is likely to be Out as 2 Parts
There has been a speculation that the production team is planning to release the movie in two parts. It is still being the same, no official confirmation has come from the KGF team. However, market experts say that whenever there has been a movie with a limitless budget and a strong story, makers have preferred to bring it in two parts. If KGF follows the mantra of Bahubali, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Raktha Charitra, one can expect it to be out as 2 parts.

KGF being in the final stages of production and soon be going through censor, makers have already confirmed the release date. It is going to hit the marquee on December 21st and trailer is all set to release on November 9th. Though the team had planned earlier for a Christmas release, it has been advanced.
